Dear Sharif University of Technology Associate,

The Board of Directors of SUTA (Sharif University of Technology Association) of the Greater Washington DC cordially invites you to become member of the Washington, DC Chapter. You were probably present during the first gathering of Sharif University of Technology associates at University of Maryland, College Park Campus on May 11th this year when we were elected to serve as board of directors to establish Washington, DC chapter of SUTA. The mission of SUTA as indicated in its bylaws is “to enhance professional, academic, and social contacts among its membership, and to strengthen the ties between the association members living outside of Iran and the University with the goal of contributing to the advancement of the academic programs at the University and more importantly having a measurable impact o¬n the technological advancement of Iran.”

Let me briefly describe the activities of our Board of Directors since the first gathering in May. We met three times and drafted chapter bylaws and decided to schedule two more gatherings before the yearend. We also discussed possibility of hosting next SUTA reunion in Washington, DC area. I am pleased to announce that we have confirmed a social gathering at Sine restaurant in Arlington, VA for Friday evening on November 22nd. Please mark your calendar since this is going to be a great opportunity to see old friends and make new connections (more detail will be sent out as we get closer to the date).

Once again we invite you to become chapter members and participate in the chapter activities by becoming SUTA member and indicating Washington, DC as your chapter. Please visit SUTA Membership page  to enroll. You can also take a look at SUTA activities reflected in its present and past newsletters.

We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,
Mehrdad Sarafraz & Alborz Alavian
Membership Co-Directors
SUTA Washington
